Aperture, in collaboration with Alice Helps, Amber Baker, Harry Mayer, Diego Gabaldon, and Charlotte Henry, HD projector, 2 mobile phones, MIDI circuit board, timber, flat steel, steel cables, zip ties, calico, copper tape, wiring, 2 sunset lamps, 2 diffusers with a scent made from lime, tea and rosemary, Bluetooth speaker and HD animation 2 mins, 3 by 3 by 3 m, January 2022Close-up of your view as you enter the Aperture, a sensory experience envelops the viewer as they smell a scent reminiscent of the sea created from lime, tea and rosemary. The copper tape visible triggers various sounds once touched, as you move around The Aperture it responds to you. Aperture interaction detail, if the viewer touches both curtains on either side of the opening one of 15 different sounds are triggered. The sounds were created by Amber Baker based on distorted soundscapes of running water and the ring of a wine glassClose-up of the animation loop created by Alice Helps, 2 mins long, depicts lines and light transforming through a cycle, pulsatingAnother close up of the projection shows a different point in the animationThe Aperture was lit by two sunset lamps which created a light-field reminiscent of the sunrise or sunset depending on the side of the structure you were on. Diffusers were placed around the installation to create a scent of the sea.
